What A Funko Pop Preview Could Tell Us About Pietro In Wandavision

With Vision repeatedly telling her, “This is wrong,” the end of the fifth episode gave us the closest thing to Wanda realizing the error of her ways. This could have ended the situation, but it was like some extra force insisted the story go on and Vision’s disagreement be tabled for later. No matter how much Director Hayward, Monica Rambeau, or even Vision have insisted that everything is Wanda’s doing, there’s always been this feeling that something malevolent has been lurking in the background of this series. It may not be forcing her to do what she’s doing, but it’s certainly egging her on and reaping the rewards. Pop Vinyl is releasing some WandaVision Funko Pops and while there are a few black-and-white ones on the way, there are also a handful based on the Halloween costumes from the sixth episode. That includes Quicksilver, except there’s something screwy with the box.

So, while this Funko Pop reveal might be seen as a spoiler, things are set to be revealed soon anyway, perhaps even on Friday. Is the figure labeled "Pietro Maximoff" because it represents the Evan Peters-played Pietro, who is known even to many of the other characters in WandaVision as the wrong Pietro? He's not original to the MCU; the Pietro that Wanda grew up with, the Pietro in Age of Ultron, was played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, had a Sokovian accent, was markedly more serious and related to his sister in a much gentler, more intense way. The Evan Peters iteration of Quicksilver — Peter Maximoff — in the X-Men films, he is an American jokester, and his version of Pietro in WandaVision is depicted much more like that. © Best Little Sites, LLC. Following WandaVision's Episode 6 release, and in conjunction with it's Virtual Con Spring 2021 product reveals, Funko added some new Pops to their WandaVision collection, matching the earlier-announced figures of Vision and Wanda in their Halloween costumes. A two-pack featuring Billy and Tommy in their costumes is being sold as a virtual Emerald City Comic-Con exclusive, while one of Pietro in his costume will be released as a Funko.com exclusive.

On the other hand, you might think that the statment refers to him not being “Pietro Maximoff” from the MCU, but rather the X-Men version. However, in the mutant universe the sprinter was called Peter Maximoff, so if the intention was to pietro maximoff funko pop highlight that small detail in the name change, the correct thing to do would have been to write “Pietro” Maximoff, since the last name did not change. With three episodes of “WandaVision” to go, we’ll soon find out what the deal with Pietro is. But for now, it’s fun to theorize all the ways this character might be here to stay. Comic fans know Mephisto, but casual fans don’t have any idea who this guy is and he’s never even been mentioned. It just doesn’t seem like Marvel’s style to introduce such a big character with no premise.

So far, there’s been many hints that indicated this, but a new Funko figure might have nudged a lot in lending further credibility to that rumour. Remember that, at the end of episode 7, Agatha reveals herself as a witch. If Wanda Maximoff has the power to reincarnate Vision, maybe Agatha can recreate her own version of Pietro. After all, if he were the speedster he played in the X-Men movies, wouldn't the box read "Pietro" Maximoff?

For fans who are still sticking around, behold the newest FunkoShop WandaVision Pop that will be arriving in March, Pietro Maximoff! This one will be based on his appearance in last week's Halloween episode in all of his speedster glory. Some of the new newest WandaVisioncharacters are getting the Funko Pop! A two-pack of twins Billy and Tommy in their Halloween costumes will be one of Funko’s Emerald City Comic Con exclusives.

Next month, there will also be a new “Pietro Maximoff” Pop! We’ve already theorized at length about what Pietro’s whole deal is and if he’s a potential way to introduce Fox’s X-Men into the MCU. The ongoing theory among fans is that Pietro is actually Mephisto, a devil character who plays a prominent role in Wanda’s comic story. While a lot of the Mephisto clues line up, it doesn’t quite feel like the obvious answer — the main reason being that, aside from this series, Marvel hasn’t really done anything to earn Mephisto arriving in the MCU. Funko Inc. is an American company that creates pop culture collectibles, which have become very popular over the past decade. The company has created vinyl figurines of more than 8,000 pop culture characters.

But more than that, I think this entire thing is a misdirect. Right now, we don’t know how Evan Peters’ version of Pietro is in this universe, and we don’t know who brought him there. At this point, the evidence is overwhelming that Peters isn't playing the real Pietro.
